Learn more below about the heart behind Badass Femininity and the women who started this movement.

We are Annika, EMT and Emmalee, RN

Two holistic nutritions who also recognize the importance of emergency training, knowledge, and preparedness.

ANNIKA’S STORY

My EMT story begins with seeing a police officer get hit and killed on the spot by a reckless driver driving in the wrong lane. On his way to church. It was almost my car that was hit head-on. My mom took charge of the scene and provided CPR until help arrived.

10 years later, this inspired me to go through EMT school.

In May 2024, I was second on scene to a traumatic motorcycle accident.

In 2023, I became a brith doula & then attended a live birth.

Experiences change you - I wouldn’t have changed my opinion on some of the things we’re teaching in the workshop if I hadn’t had these experiences. I wouldn’t have grown into the person I am today had I not had these experiences.

While I am still wildly passionate about nutrition, experiencing aspects of life that I never have before (birth & death) have brought a new appreciation of life and a desire to be able to handle intense situations more than I ever have.

EMMALEE’S STORY

I became a nurse because it was a “stable” career and I’ve always loved science, my mom was an ICU nurse and I loved listening to the crazy stories she would come home with.

I actually didn’t hate nursing; I love critical care to this day and fully recognize the power of modern medicine in traumatic, emergent events — but eventually I transitioned to a more flexible career as a holistic practitioner because I wanted more out of life than running on stress hormones 3-4 days per week.

I never really valued the knowledge I had from growing up in a family of medical professionals and from my own schooling and hands-on hospital experience, until I became a parent and realized how many parents have little to know emergency training. Friends always send me photos and videos of various injuries and ask for my assistance (or my husband’s, since he is also a nurse) because we are the only people among our very large community with any medical training or knowledge.

Having administered CPR more times that I can count, compressions, shocking, pushing ACLS meds, stopping bleeding, has made it second nature for me - but to most people this is completely foreign.

When Annika approached me with this realization, we both agreed that something needed to be done — and Badass Femininity was born.

was created with the mission of educating and empowering women to take radical responsibility for their lives by embracing the aspects of femininity that are often overlooked — preparedness, intentionality, and strength.
